I thought Masato Yoshii was the truth. In my defense though, check what he did down the stretch in '99. His numbers in August, September, and October were incredible. For that 3 month stretch (playoffs included), Masato Yoshii was an ace-quality pitcher.

And I was, and still am, a Joe McEwing mark. If Omar brought Joe Mac back in tomorrow to be our everyday 2B, I probably wouldn't even be mad. Shit, I'd be overjoyed.

I don't think anyone cared about BAY in that trade until like four years later. And then someone said "wait, this rookie on Pittsburgh... didn't we trade him?"

I liked the Mora-Bordick deal because we didn't give up Escobar for Larkin.

I also thought that by 2006, Orber Moreno would be our Mariano Rivera.

I thought Pat Strange was going to be a cog in our rotation by now.

I was also thoroughly convinced, for reasons I'm not even sure of, that Alhaji Turay was going to be a star for us. Keep in mind, I've never even seen him play.

I actually liked the idea of Middlebrook being lumped with Reed in that trade, but I definitely did not like Bay's inclusion as he was more or less made a throw-in (at least how it was presented in the trade write-ups). I was tracking him and impressed w/ his progress, and was disappointed that he came across like an afterthought by the org.

Prez was the only person I remember specifically that did not like the trade outright.

I hated the Seo deal... and I killed the Chavez signing.

In regards to Chavez... I was like... why do we need this bum that can't hit for when we have plenty of minor league talent available.

Was definitely wrong there. Seo deal speaks for itself.

i wanted the mets to sign sosa rather then keep floyd the season he broke out... only real one i can think of... im never really wanting to get anyone.. unless they are prospects or known stars... i rarely want the mets to get reg players...since im the type of met fan that loves each mat player just for being on the team... im always backing the players up even when they suck... and this year Pornstache and chavez made me look like i knew what i was doing haha

The most recent naturally was the Seo deal but I loved every other move made in the off-seaon...lukewarm about the Benson deal but was somewhat indifferent and understood the salary dump. I still want Heilman as a starter but I guess we'll one day find out the verdict when he's pitching for some other team.

The worse move I was in favor of making was to sign Darren Dreifort before he went to the Dodgers. I was however, vehemently opposed to having anything to do with Chan Ho Park who I know many people were after at the time. So I consider that one to be a push.

I carred about that Bay trade... He was like the batting champing in A-ball at the time. He was just Canadian.

I thought Mientkiewicz was going to be a lesser version of John Olerud. Her turned out to be a REALLY lesser version, something akin to his jockstrap.

I also wanted Odalis Perez and Matt Clement in our rotation.

I didn't like the Seo trade. Though I was right that it left the rotation exposed to injury risk. I was wrong on Sanchez though, he's been great. I liked Burnitz II. And I wanted Alfonzo to stay. Now I'm convinced he was on roids.

I was for getting J.D. Drew over Carlos Beltran Embarassed

I also wanted to re-sign Ricky Bottalico.

This isn't a mistake, but I'm pretty sure Jose Parra and Orber Moreno are rolled up in carpets somewhere. Has anyone filed a missing persons report?

I advocated Reyes for Soriano.

Not THE dumbest thing I've ever did, Soriano is pretty hot this year.

I wanted Ponson when he was an FA.

I wanted Millwood when he was an FA.

Moreno has a great ERA in AAA Memphis (St. Louis farm team).

no idea on Parra.

I liked the Mark Clark and Lance Johnson for Mel Rojas, Turk Wendell, and Brian McRae deal. And I liked it because I thought Mel Rojas would be a bona-fide setup man! (turns out Turk was the best guy in that trade)
