They give up Nady for a guy (Hernandez) with a 1.63 WHIP and another (Perez) with a 1.83 WHIP?

What is Omar thinking?

<Wilpon>... and it wouldn't surprise me if Peterson had a hand in this charade either.

they traded Nady for a relief pitcher who is old,but can pitch in NY as he showed last year, and an left handed ace type pitcher WITHOUT giving up Mlledge.Id say its a pretty good deal. Now that we lost Dirty Sanchez its all the more important.

What the [CENSORED] did you want him to do? They need another reliever now that Sanchez is out, Perez is a project for the future.

The dropoff from Nady to Chavez is not that big. Look at their numbers.

I wanted "the fuck" for them to consider factors beyond just going for it all this season. Again, I know that's a crazy idea.

You know Milledge is going to be put there soon enough...

The fact that Phillips likes this makes me hate it even more.

I like the deal. Nady is only a platoon player and his fielding is bad. Glad Omar saw that. Perez is a project with lots of up-side. And I don't think Omar is done - no way Chavez is the starting RF.

A guy who hasn't even pitched well enough to be called even "mediocre" since 2004 and is currently sporting an atrocious 1.83 WHIP.

His stuff is FILTHY, but he's a lot like Victor Zambrano in that he can't throw it over the plate. As recently as 2004, he put up a 2.98 ERA with 239 strikeouts in in 196 IP. If Peterson can straighten his mechanics out, this is an absolute steal for the Mets.

Did I miss something? Xavier Nady is in our longterm plans? The inclusion of Perez in this trade is thinking about the future.

Prez, now you're taking your bullshit a little too far.

We traded Nady, not Milledge. Got back a guy who will replace the guy who is done for the season and an under 25 pitcher.

Not a terrible move at all. You are acting like Nady is a top prospect.

Nady is a good, relatively young, cheap, right-handed hitter with some decent thump on a team that does not hit lefties particularly well.

If you don't like my "act" then don't read my posts. If there's soemthing that I wrote with which you specifically disagree and care to offer specific counter-points, I am very open to reading them.

Well, I'll agree that it does hurt them against lefties.

However, Nady has many flaws. He does not walk very much, his defense is below average, and he can not hit with RISP. The dropoff from Nady to Chavez/Milledge is not very big.

Whatever. When you talk about Milledge's potential, what the [CENSORED] do you think you're talking about?
