As he is still clearly bitter about the deal

Lol, just saw this. Been away on a deep sea fishing trip all weekend, just got back sunday.

Glad to see we handled Colorado, very worried about Glavine and our WS hopes. Extremly glad to see Delgado step up. What else have i missed this weekend?

Ollie pitched a 1 hitter and struck out 11 while only walking 2. consistency is key, but your projection that he'll never come back is a alittle quick to judge.

That's good news, lets see if he can do this with consistancy at AAA... if so then at the MLB level. 11 k's is nice along with the report his FB hit 95 if that holds any truth, but the biggest thing for me is he only walked 2. Did he pitched the full 9 innings? Hey if Perez comes back and proves me wrong (i hope he does) i'll be the first to step up take the heat.

I was in favor of just leaving him down in the minors until call-ups which are now only 2 weeks away. In light of the Glavine situation, I think he may need to be given some consideration as a potential starter. I don't think it's unrealistic to see him have a few decent outings. We have a lot of pitching concerns obviously. We also have a lot of pitchers who have filled in nicely. I'd like to see him get at least 3 starts in September and get time in with The Jacket, then evaluate and go from there.

Hey the heat wont be so bad in your 2007 new york mets world series shirt. thats what you'll be wearing if he can return to his old form.

How has Soler been doing? I'm not ready to give up on him, by any means. The future rotation could be a subset of Pelfrey, Maine, Soler, Perez, Humber, Bannister. Doesn't look good now, but there's a world of potential there for long-term success.

Bannister is almost certainly the Saturday starter (on 5 days rest) and Williams is going Thursday

If he gets blown out, dont be surprised to see Ollie pitching on Wed or Thursday so he'd be eligible for the post season roster

We could go

Maine-Tues
Trax-Wed
Williams-Thrs (Perez goes for Norfolk)
Duque-Fri
Bannister-Sat
Maine-Sun
Trax-Tues
Williams/Perez-Wed
Duque/Williams/Perez-Thrs
END OF AUGUST

Randy Johnson took about 4 seasons to settle in

Offensively and defensively we are a better set for Perez...Imagine if he had all those first inning runs? He had 4 first inning runs this season in 15 starts, 3 of which game in 1 game

He has a career .074 GB/FB ratio, so our solid OF defense will help him

Hes a solid defensive player as well

The best thing about Oliver Perez is he was a THROW IN for a below average RF and our #8 hitter

He pans out great, if not, no big loss for us

johnson was 14-11 with 194 Ks and a 3.65 era is year 3. didnt take 4 years. with that said, i believe perez will be great

I don't understand why Pitts. was so intent on turning Perez into a finesse SP. The guy can work with his fastball, let him go with it! You don't K as many as he did his breakout year being a finesse pitcher.

They started messing with his mechanics, etc. Break him down, get back to basics, tell him to let 'er rip.

Let him stay in AAA and get a head of steam.

And maybe by this time next year this is the deal that the Pittsburgh GM gets fired for making Smile

I think Perez will work himself back to what he used to be and when that does we will all be grateful for Minya making the trade because we will have gotten him for a corner OF that really had no future with this team.

As for calling him up I'm not in favor of this. He is not ready and to call him up could mess up the progress they have made with him so far. I say keep him in AAA and give him a shot in ST. IMO Bannister would be the better choice.
