The only question is if it's 3 or 4 games

wow...have you rooted for the Mets at all this season? did you not notice that they've had trouble keeping starters healthy all year and have still managed to have the best record in baseball? go slit your wrists and pull the veins out

I know there was a discussion about not judging each other's fandom based on how we root for our Mets, BUT it is so disappointing and at this point, downright old, how quickly some of us bail out on this team. I don't give a [CENSORED] if they rule Glavine and Trachsel out along with Duque, I'm not conceding [CENSORED] to the Dodgers or anybody!

Different strokes for different folks, I understand. But come one, we haven't even heard the whole thing about this news about Duque. We're giving up. This negative [CENSORED] is getting old.

He wont take the bet because if we win the series he'll be here either celebrating or predicting doom for the NLCS

If we win the NLCS he'll predict gloom for the WS

If we win the WS he'll celebrate like the [CENSORED] he is

I think that the Gloomy doomers should be challenged to accept a bet like that and stay off the board if they make such a statement. If they aren't willing to back it up, then why are they writing it. 15 week penanlty for unnecessary whining should be automatic.

Look, I understand why people adopt a pessimistic attitude. If you prepare for the worst, then the worst doesn't hurt so much, and if things go well it's a pleasant surprise. I understand it. I've done it myself, but I think you've gone too far. The Mets were a much better team than the Dodgers this season. A nine game gap is pretty big. Losing El Duque hurts, but it doesn't necessarily make up that gap. If the Mets end up with Maine, Glavine, Trachsel, Perez, Maine, they still have a plenty good chance to win the series. Both Maine and Perez have filthy stuff, and Glavine is a very solid veteran.

Bottom line: if a team doesn't have the depth to withstand some injuries, it doesn't deserve to win because injuries are a part of sports. If El Duque is out, other guys will have to step up, but they just might surprise you.
