as of right now.

The present team, in my opinion, will be entering the 2007 season in worse shape than 2006.

We received a TREMENDOUS pitching effort in 06 yet lost because our offense was inept. I see no improvement so far from Omar to address this issue.

If you as a fan would love to see a great regular season offense, you should be thrilled with the current Mets. However, if you want a CHAMPIONSHIP calibur offense (that means hitting when it counts) this team doesn't look anymore promising than the DUD that was 06 (1 run at home in Game 7 off an average pitcher. How pathetic).

Truth be told, don't expect much in 07. We had lightning in a bottle in 06 but we couldnt take advantage. Now, in 07, everyone is going to be gunning for us. We took a few teams by surprise ion 06, dont expect that in 07, not with this team.

I mean, MOSES Alou? Cmon. You gotta spend the big $ if you want to win. You cant sit around and make excuses about payroll. We have a huge hole at 2nd, and it hasnt been filled. Omar, please wake up from your siesta and get the ball rolling. 20 years and counting for us. Too long for a Ny team. Too long.

I know. We [CENSORED] so badly. This team is nowhere close to a division championship, nvm a world series ring.

you are right, the offense is the same or with some bad luck worse.

they have to get much better in pitching to improve

If the offense does the same thing we should be in pretty good shape...since it was the best offense in the league and all...

Philly and the Braves both scored more runs that the Mets. But don't let facts get in your way

As we saw this offense was huge during the season against mediocrity but when it comes to playoff time we all know pitching wins and the Cards pitchers however they did it found the right time to pitch like cy youngs ,esp Weaver and Suppan.

Philly get to hit in a playpen 81 times a season so you can discount them scoring more than the Mets.

Yea and both of those teams passed the Mets in runs the last month of the season when the division was already over and the Mets were playing scrubs.

And the Mets were 3rd in team ERA in the National League last year. The Cardinals were 9th. Its all about who is playing well at the right time.

Hmmm, are NyMetsFan and Gallstone actually the same person? Who has ever agreed with anything NYMF has said? Makes you wonder...

Well, if not...at least they can both be miserable together. Very Happy

What's "pathetic" is you railing on the same tired non-issues to bring this team down. The defending NLE champs are not contenders? Why? Cuz cabrera and the marlins are a year older? because Beltran, Delgado, DW and Reyes will all of a sudden suck? Because the offseason now suddenly ENDS December 1st? (Funny thing, it has BEGUN on december first in years past, but oh well, you know best!!!)

or is it because you're just trying to get a rise out of all those idiotic enough to take you seriously?

Whatever it is, please know you're only making yourself look foolish. I personally got a nice chuckle out of your post. Thanks for that.

We won 97 games, and we easily could have won 100 or more if we had any competition pushing us. We lost the LCS in the final inning to a cardinals team that was playing way over its head and continued playing that way through the WS. On the position player side, we have two guys who haven't hit their prime yet (Wright and Reyes) one guy who's right in the middle of his prime (Beltran) and a very promising (very young) player in the wings 9Milledge). On the pitching side, Heilman and Sanchez are young pitchers who have established themselves at the ML level, and we have a huge amount of talent in the wings (Perez, Maine, Humber, Pelfrey, Bannister, Soler, Mulvey). Things could be a lot worse.

Oh Yeah sorry...it was the best offense in the league until the middle of september when every regular in the lineup got 3 days off a week...remember when you were panicked that the team couldn't just hit a switch than murdered the dodgers? The team that you probably thought we had no shot against.
