I figured I'd vent in this thread.

Everything I read on Montero claimed he was the best bat to come from Venezuela since Miguel Cabrera. I wanted him more than any other prospect.

I'm holding out hope that Omar is planning on getting volume. Pena is an absolute must IMO. Which is scary, because I didn't think there was any way Pena would sign anywhere other than with the Yankees.

If the Yankees sign Pena and Montero, I'm going to be sick.

^key thing in that whole post..."good bat"..

yes...

defensivley is very iffy...and he is going to probably move to 1st or right field...

met's don't really need that...which is why pena is a safer and better pick..cause for the long run..he'll still be catching..and good at that.

What popped out at me was "bat like Cabrera". That's why I wanted Montero.

I trust Omar and his assistants, though. This seems to be an advantage/strength of the Omar Minaya regime. Balbino and Pena are the two guys I want now that Montero is off the board.

is reporting it now too, so I'm assuming so. That's where I got the $2.2 million figure from.

Big money so far. Teams are following Omar's example.

Viloria, Triunfel, and Fuenmayor sound like the most interesting players to me. I don't know if Pena is all that, but given that we only have one decent catching prospect right now, it may be worth the money to find out.

After seeing this flurry, I would be happy with one signing.

Using my rudamentry Spanish, I think that it says Fuenmayor reportedly has an agreement with Cleveland for a bonus of about $1 million. Suarez signed with the Cubs for $350,000 and Ferrer with the Mariners for $290,000. Pena still unsigned.
