So you and another poster disagree on a particular topic. You know you're right, as do they. The question is; are you willing to put something on the line for it?

If yes, then we've got an idea for you...

Find a worthy adversary to accept your bet, or a number of them if you like. Agree on some odds. I'd say 10:1 against Matsuzaka becoming a free agent this year or the equivalent thereof is fair for the sake of fun. If you win (he goes to an MLB team other than the Red Sox this year, and not via trade), then your opponent has to wear the avatar of your choosing for 10 weeks. If he does not, then you have to wear the avatar of your opponent's choosing for 1 week. During that week you must post regularly (definition to be determined).

In the Iron Man variation of the bet, in addition to wearing your opponent's choice of avatar, you must spend the duration of the result pretending you chose the avatar for your own reasons, or a reason decided on by the winner. Other board members that are aware of the bet are politely asked to refrain from telling the truth to anyone that asks.

A Secret Iron Man variation can also be created, wherein the bet is agreed upon in private messaging, so no one else knows for sure that you're required to wear your avatar. This version allows a particular artistry on the part of the winner, who can strive to find a picture and an explanation that is highly embarrassing but still plausible.

Upon termination of the losing period, the truth may come out.

Feel free to use this thread to post any other betting parameters that you might be thinking of for others to use/enjoy.

However, I do not recommend using this thread to discuss any details behind the bet itself, save that for PM.

And if you are aware of a bet between two other posters, please keep it quiet.
