and yes he's a switch pitcher Twisted Evil

there was a times article a few weeks back. Pretty cool that he can do it but they say neither arm is really big league stuff. It's worth a shot though. Would be a cool reliever to have.

He said that hes going to college no doubt and the Yankees shouldn't bother with him because no amount of money can sway him.

Doh

Honest Question to Met fans

Did Omar draft for Need or Best player Available and Projection.

Any one could argue that 4 of thier first selections were primarliy for need but as the later picks indicate thier's a bunch of kids that could have some nice projection to them

Moveil and Vineyard were more projection type guys. I actually liked those picks very much. Kunz was both need and and projection as he can be a late inning guy in the future. Clyne and the other RP are organization fillers IMO. But we will see, we won't know for a while

felix
i think we have to hold out and wait a yr or 2 and then talk about this draft. the top four picks i like knuz will be here next yr. Moveil and Vineyard i think maybe moved to become starters and if they do well as starters then this draft gets a b+ rating.

Rustich i think maybe a steal yes he is a one pitch pitcher but he had finger problems , if that is healed and taken care of then he can be a dominate righty reliver.

with shoe, mota, and dirty all iffy for next yr cuz of injuries or ineffectiveness, i think omar drafted for need and doesnt want to pay a premium for settup guys in fa and save that money for a impact starter or hitter during off season.

felix by the way i like carp and peavey picks man i wanted those 2 along with morales. next home stand i gotta find up what the thinking was for draft after the 3rd dound

Really?

looks like he changed his mind about that and it has nothing to do with money either.

omar and sandy my have all the kids signed before the 28 of this month.

from what i got from my fo contact is omar sees the mr market going to the price range of what a decent #3 or 4 pitcher salary was 2yrs ago and doesnt want to play that price.

he wants to save paying premuiem dollars on premieum players.
with wagner, mota, sele, all coming off in the next 2 to 3 yrs he wanta to have the replacement be in house with knunz, and others.

also like abb said omar did overdraft kids so that they can sign faster and get going in the system so they can see what they have going into winter.

one last thing dont be surpise if humber is put in the pen and groomed a closer for 2009 this is being talked about if no improvement by humber is seen then the move will be made, as parnell and mulvey right now are rising, and humber is dropping.

omar likes humber coming in and throwing 95+ mph heater and his curve for one inning.

he may be the last pick to sign i hear some serious dough being talked about and omar is willing but skillsets may shot it down . omar will go overslot to get these kids here before the 28th.

abb, omar likes the kid but doesnt think he will hold up as a starter his baa after second goaround goes up too much and the kid is thinking too much about what to throw.
making him a closer and bring that heat with the curve and maybe a changeup here and then could be a nice cheap closer to take over for wags after 2009

Seems like from what Benny Latino said and you said, the kid wants a 7 figure bonus

Whats going on Brandon, I am a huge Mets fan. All of us fans were excited when we heard we picked you as some scouts compared you to Roy Oswalt! What are the chances you actually sign? Or do you think your going to go to school? Good luck either way but being selfish I hope you sign!

Congrats on being picked

Daniel Wexler

well the moneys got to be right, but i'm most likely going to sign. Glad to see the mets have good fans, can't wait to pitch for them one day

this kid will be signed but it will take about 1.5+ million to get it done

Moviel, Vineyard, Efferson, Abbott, hopefully Carson signs.... thats 5 HS arms we get to develop in the farm lower levels while mulvey, parnell, guerra, pelfery, and humber are the high level backups to mets rotation for the next 2 yrs while these kids hopefully by that time will have shown something to us and make this draft speical, and maybe omars best ever

The kid also has a good splitter. As fan of his I have not given up on him as a starter and if this true the Org is pulling the trigger too quick.
